The Laurel Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Columbus HomeSchool Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Laurel comes in on six and the Hawks on five.
In what's become a running theme this season, Laurel gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 62-32 win over Christian Academy of Madison on the road. Laurel pushed the score to 48-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Defenders had little chance of recovering from.
Laurel found their leader in underclassman Brayden Gerrian, who scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gerrian has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic James, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Columbus HomeSchool scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Indianapolis HomeSchool Wildcats and snuck past 87-84. The score was all tied up 33-33 at the break, but Columbus HomeSchool was the better team in the second half.
Kaden Greenlee was his usual excellent self, scoring 36 points along with five assists and two steals. He also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Nat Farnsley was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Laurel is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Columbus HomeSchool, their win bumped their record up to 16-6.
Laurel took a serious blow against the Hawks when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 79-40. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Laurel was down 44-16.
