Wood County Christian has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Bridgeport Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wood County Christian is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bridgeport in their respective states (Wood County Christian is ranked 122nd in West Virginia, while Bridgeport is ranked 586th in Ohio).
Wood County Christian suffered their closest loss yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Parkersburg Christian by a score of 39-37.
Meanwhile, Bridgeport waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They secured a 54-50 W over Frontier.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bridgeport to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaleel Vincent, who scored 14 points along with five assists and three steals. Vincent hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Gear, who scored 11 points.
Wood County Christian's loss was their ninth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-9. As for Bridgeport, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Wood County Christian came up short against Bridgeport when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 71-62. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Vincent, who scored 30 points along with three steals.
