Seneca East is 9-1 against Bucyrus since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Tigers will face off against the Redmen at 5:00 p.m. Seneca East's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Bucyrus' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Seneca East is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 12-9 victory over Vermilion on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Braydon Robinson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also put up two RBI, which were his first of the season.
In other batting news, Nicolas Parks was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Brady Bloom was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Seneca East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Bucyrus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 12-1 to Buckeye Central.
Bucyrus saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quinn Ross, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Bucyrus' loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Seneca East, their record now sits at 3-1.
Seneca East's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Tigers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Bucyrus, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Seneca East continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Seneca East's way against Bucyrus in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Seneca East made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
