Football Game Preview: Saint Mary's Hall Barons vs. St. Augustine Knights

Saint Mary's Hall has gone a perfect 4-0 against St. Augustine recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Barons will head out to square off against the Knights at 7:00 p.m. Saint Mary's Hall will be strutting in after a win while St. Augustine will be coming in after a defeat.

Saint Mary's Hall was handed a 46-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-42 victory over Incarnate Word Academy.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Saint Mary's Hall to victory, but perhaps none more so than Christian Payton, who rushed for 51 yards and two TDs, and also picked up 86 receiving yards and one touchdown. Payton didn't just play on offense: he also made 11 total tackles and defended one pass. Bear Mayberry was another key signal caller, throwing for 286 yards and four touchdowns.

Meanwhile, St. Augustine fell victim to The Christian School at Castle Hills and their airtight defense on Thursday. They were beaten by the Eagles 47-0. The Knights have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Saint Mary's Hall now has a winning record of 5-4. As for St. Augustine, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
