Zoey Frodge made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Muhlenberg County let Abry Carver and Ava Carver run wild. Abry went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Ava went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Watkins, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Muhlenberg County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McLean County only posted an OBP of .294.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Warren East's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 5-2 to Barren County.
Warren East saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Brooks, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Kaylee Jones was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.
Muhlenberg County's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Warren East, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-5.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Muhlenberg County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like Warren East struggles in that department as they've averaged .359. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
