Even though the Innovation Academy The Red Tailed Hawk have not done well against the Northeast Metro RVT Knights recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Innovation Academy came out on top against Northeast Metro RVT by a score of 69-62. Winning may never get old, but Innovation Academy sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Derrick Twum was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. He also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Kankam, who scored 14 points along with two blocks.
Northeast Metro RVT's loss came despite strong showings from Chris Zullo and Carmine D'Amelio. Zullo scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals, while D'Amelio scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Bobby Connolly, who scored six points.
Innovation Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Northeast Metro RVT, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Innovation Academy will head out on the road to face off against Mystic Valley Regional at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Massachusetts (Mystic Valley Regional is ranked 196th, while Innovation Academy is ranked 183rd). Northeast Metro RVT won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Greater Lawrence Tech at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th.
