After a string of four wins, Lakeside's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 68-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Evans Knights. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Knights from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.
When it comes to explaining why Lakeside lost, don't look at Ty Jones. Despite the final result, he posted 28 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Sand, who had 11 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Evans to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaden Mooring, who scored 16 points. Mooring continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Tizher Scott was another key player, going 5 of 12 on his way to 17 points.
Lakeside's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-10. As for Evans, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-11.
Lakeside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-50 win against Effingham County on the 28th. Evans has also already played their next match, a 77-69 loss against Greenbrier on the 28th.
