Appleton East has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Appleton East didn't have too much trouble with Fond du Lac at home as they won 74-58. Given Appleton East's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Fond du Lac is ranked 294th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Kaukauna waltzed into Friday's game with two straight wins but they left with three. They took down Oshkosh North 70-56.
Addison Baumgart was a one-man wrecking crew for Kaukauna as she scored 33 points along with 7 rebounds. The match was Baumgart's third in a row with at least ten points. Jozy Ebben was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
The losses dropped Appleton East to 5-1 and Fond du Lac to 0-5.
Appleton East came up short against Kaukauna in their previous meeting back in February, falling 86-76. Can Appleton East avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
