The Minatare Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Hemingford at home and fell 74-42. Minatare lost against Hemingford in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 54-20 score last time.
Minatare lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dionicio Hernandes, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Hernandes scored a full 35.7% of Minatare's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Hunter Poor Bear was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Minatare's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Hemingford, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Minatare won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Creek Valley at 4:00 p.m. on January 6th. Creek Valley is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Hemingford, they will be playing at home against Chadron on Tuesday.
