Baseball Game Preview: Overhills Jaguars vs. E.E. Smith Golden Bulls

Overhills is a perfect 10-0 against E.E. Smith since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Overhills Jaguars are taking a road trip to challenge the E.E. Smith Golden Bulls at 7:00 p.m. Overhills will be strutting in after a victory while E.E. Smith will be coming in after a loss.

Overhills made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Terry Sanford, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went Overhills' way against Terry Sanford on Friday as Overhills made off with a 9-2 win. The Jaguars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Darren Ludwick made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Overhills is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-2 otherwise. Ludwick was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Ludwick wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Houston Poole, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Danny Sykes was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, E.E. Smith was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 11-0 to Triton.

Overhills is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season. E.E. Smith's loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything went Overhills' way against E.E. Smith in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Overhills made off with a 24-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Overhills since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
