Heritage extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 5-6-1. They came up short against the Grand Junction Tigers, falling 9-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 9-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.
John Paul O'Connor got Heritage off to a strong start despite the final result, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Heritage saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Kellogg, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Kellogg's first of the season.
As for Grand Junction, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.
On Grand Junction's side, Andrew Henderson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Henderson has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Clayton Scarbrough, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sean Witt, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Heritage has already played their next matchup, a 12-7 win against Rock Canyon on the 13th. As for Grand Junction, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-3 victory against Silver Creek on the 11th.
