The Springwood Wildcats will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Valiant Cross Academy Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Springwood has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 543 points over their last seven matchups.
Last Saturday, Springwood strolled past Calvary Christian with points to spare, taking the game 61-47. Given Springwood's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 24th in Alabama, while Calvary Christian is ranked 233rd in Georgia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Springwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Daniel Westbrook, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. Westbrook has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of CJ Johnson, who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Valiant Cross Academy waltzed into two weeks ago's game with two straight wins but they left with three. They put the hurt on Trinity Christian with a sharp 52-31 win. Considering Valiant Cross Academy has won three matchups by more than 20 points this season, two weeks ago's blowout was nothing new.
Springwood's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.7 points per game. As for Valiant Cross Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Springwood beat Valiant Cross Academy 73-63 in their previous matchup back in January. Does Springwood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Valiant Cross Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
