Winter Haven had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Strawberry Crest Chargers by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for the Blue Devils as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Winter Haven was especially dominant in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-12, 25-27, 26-24.
Sophia Whitaker paced Winter Haven's offense, picking up 25 kills. Whitaker got some help from Addison Traina and her 26 assists. Kindyl Goff controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Despite the loss, Strawberry Crest saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alyssa Miller had 20 digs and three aces. Those 20 digs set a new season-high mark for Miller.
Winter Haven's record now sits at 23-5. As for Strawberry Crest, they dropped their record down to 13-15 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
