Carolina Forest is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Myrtle Beach a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Carolina Forest Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Myrtle Beach Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. Carolina Forest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Carolina Forest and North Myrtle Beach meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Chiefs 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since March 8th.
Carolina Forest saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Nesheiwat, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Myrtle Beach). They walked away with a 13-8 victory over Ketchikan on Saturday.
Lilly Langway made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madalyn Thompson, who scored five runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Shianne Needle, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI.
Myrtle Beach was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Myrtle Beach has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Carolina Forest, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8-1.
Everything went Carolina Forest's way against Myrtle Beach in their previous matchup back in February of 2019, as Carolina Forest made off with a 17-1 win. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Seahawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
