Central (Crystal Lake, Ill.) had a comfortable lead entering the fourth quarter, but used 14 fourth quarter points to seal the 46-21 victory over
Hampshire (Ill.).
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Kyle Lavand in the second quarter, the Tigers were up 20-13 at the half.
Central expanded its lead to 13 points entering the fourth quarter. CHS scored two times in the third, including once on a rushing touchdown.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 55-6 win for the Crystal Lake school.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Tigers, who lost to South last week, 14-7. The loss comes after Hampshire defeated DeKalb 35-34 last week. The loss ended Hampshire's two-game winning streak.
Central (2-1) goes up against Huntley in a Fox Valley - Fox game matchup next week, while Hampshire (2-1) locks horns with Grayslake Central also in a Fox Valley - Fox game.
