Vance Charter will head out to take on Northern Durham at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Vance Charter's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They didn't even let East Wake Academy on the board, marking the Knights' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Leah Rice was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Puryear, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Katelin Guerrant, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northern Durham). They put the hurt on Hillside with a sharp 19-2 victory on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Knights as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Northern Durham got a massive performance out of Lainey Stutts, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. AnnaClaire Spell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Northern Durham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Vance Charter is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Northern Durham, their record is now 4-12.
Northern Durham's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Vance Charter has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Northern Durham, though, as they've been averaging 9.4 hits. Given Vance Charter's sizable advantage in that area, Northern Durham will need to find a way to close that gap.
