Aubri Falls made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Zephyrhills Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Shyla Hafley, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Hadley Hancock was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Zephyrhills Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Wiregrass Ranch entered their tilt with Pasco last Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Pirates a 14-0 shutout. Considering the Bulls have won four games by more than 13 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Kayla Valentin, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Hailey Horne also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Wiregrass Ranch's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Zephyrhills Christian Academy, their record now sits at 2-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Zephyrhills Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wiregrass Ranch struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
