The Los Altos Eagles will face off against the Mountain View Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Los Altos took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Homestead, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Mustangs on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since March 4, 2025.
Chloe Caldbeck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Makayla Mase, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Isabella Cirimele, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mountain View, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Saratoga by a score of 4-1 on Friday.
Riley Anderson and Leilani Tanielu did most of the damage at the plate: Anderson went 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base, while Tanielu went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That's the most RBI Tanielu has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Raven Rasmussen-Dailey, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Mountain View's win bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Los Altos, the victory got them back to even at 10-10-2.
Los Altos' speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Mountain View, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Los Altos continue to outrun the ball?
