Fairview is 0-6 against Cheatham County Central since April of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Yellowjackets will venture away from home to take on the Cubs at 6:00 p.m. The last three games Fairview has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Fairview's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Sycamore 2-0. The win was some much needed relief for the Yellowjackets as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Not much got past Maddie McGowan, who gave up just five hits to keep Sycamore off the board. McGowan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Fairview's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kylie Ellison, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Grace Fox was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Cheatham County Central won against East Hickman County on Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Cubs blew past Sycamore 10-2. The result was nothing new for the Cubs, who have now won five games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Rylee Knox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Georgia Hunter, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Ava Dyrbala also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Cheatham County Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Cheatham County Central is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Fairview, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 7-11.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fairview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Cheatham County Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .384. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fairview might still be hurting after the 20-1 defeat they got from Cheatham County Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
