The Attica Red Ramblers will face off against the Oakwood Comets at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Attica is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Covington hit Attica with a four-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Ramblers fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 8-7. The Red Ramblers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Dane Goris made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Oakwood had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 11-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Xander Wilson made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Oakwood is 2-1 when Wilson allows two or fewer hits, but 6-7 otherwise. Wilson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Carsen Dudley was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Oakwood's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 5-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Brandt Hobick, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Oakwood's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Attica, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3-1.
Attica suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Oakwood when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Red Ramblers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
