Video: Damascus wins 3A title
Hornets win 11th state title.
Quarterback
Jayden Sauray rushed for two scores and passed for two others leading Wise to a 35-14 win over Northwest in the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association 4A title game on Friday night.
Sauray broke a 14-14 tie with a 42-yard TD pass to
Dorian Strong early in the third quarter and finished things off with a 27-yard scoring pass to
Keith Boddie Jr. as the Pumas finished 15-0.
Jalil Farooq also added an 8-yard TD run for Wise, which got TD runs of 1 and 10 yards in the first half by Sauray.
In 3A championship play, Damascus won its 11th state crown with a 38-0 win over Linganore.
On Saturday, Middletown (12-2) won the 2A state title with a 34-15 win over Potamac (12-2), and Catoctin (13-1) claimed the 1A crown with a 31-8 victory over Dunbar (12-2).
Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis will serve as the host site for all four state championship contests.
Champions in 2018 include Fort Hill (Class 1A), Oakdale (Class 2A), Franklin (Class 3A) and Quince Orchard (Class 4A).
