Shades Valley (Birmingham, Ala.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 49-19 win over Buckhorn (New Market, Ala.).
The Mounties put up 21 points in the opening frame. Shades Valley scored on a
Keith Mixon touchdown run, a touchdown run by
Robert Walker and a Walker touchdown pass to Mixon.
After taking the lead on a Mixon touchdown run in the first quarter, SV led 35-14 at the half.
The Birmingham school grew its lead to 35 points entering the fourth quarter. The Mounties scored two times in the third, including once on a rushing touchdown.
The defeat comes as a step back for Buckhorn, who notched a 31-21 victory over Gardendale in its previous outing. The win brought Shades Valley's winning streak to three games.
