The Heppner Mustangs put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Riverside by a score of 43-34. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but Heppner was the better team in the second half.
Despite the defeat, Riverside had strong showings from Crystal Sanchez, who scored 18 points along with 3 steals, and Brianna Thomas, who scored 5 points. The match was Sanchez's fifth in a row with at least ten points.
Heppner's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Riverside, their loss dropped their record down to 4-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heppner will be home for the holidays to greet Central Linn at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Riverside will take on Columbia at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbia and Riverside are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
