The Charles City Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Middlesex Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 13 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Charles City and nine for Middlesex dating back to last season.
Charles City fell victim to John Marshall's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Justices on the road and fell 29-0. Charles City was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 43-14, which was the final score in Middlesex's tilt against West Point two Thursdays ago. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Middlesex in their matchups with West Point: they've now lost six in a row.
Middlesex's loss came about despite a quality game from Jaquan Griffin, who gained 132 total yards and a touchdown.
Charles City's loss was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged three points per game. As for Middlesex, their defeat was their third straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-6.
