Despite the loss, Pine Forest had strong showings from Christian Baynes, who almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine boards, and Angelo Jones, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds. Jones is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last 11 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jordan Tubbs, who posted ten points and six boards.
Even though they lost, Pine Forest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 20 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Jordan beat Chapel Hill 59-46 on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.
Jordan's win came from a few key players Pine Forest will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Julian Lowe, who on his way to 19 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rivers Knight, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 14 boards.
Jordan pushed their record up to 23-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.2 points over those games. As for Pine Forest, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-11.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Pine Forest has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 35.1 rebounds per game.
