The Winona Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Grenada Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Winona is hoping to put an end to a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Winona was the victim of a rough 72-46 defeat at the hands of Coffeeville.
Meanwhile, Grenada's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 89-72 fall against North Panola. While losing is never fun, Grenada can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while North Panola is ranked 73rd).
Despite the loss, Grenada had strong showings from Caleb Howard, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds, and Kelton Jones, who scored 25 points. The game was Howard's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Travis Wilks, who scored six points.
Winona's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Grenada, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Winona was dealt a bruising 88-53 loss at the hands of Grenada when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Winona, Cameo Noel (who went 8 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 1 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
