This season hasn't been kind to the Centura Centurions, who are still winless after their 12th match. They were dealt a 70-40 loss at the hands of Doniphan-Trumbull on Tuesday. Centura has struggled against Doniphan-Trumbull recently, as their match on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Centura lost, one person who can't be blamed is Barrett Fries. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Weston Kroeger, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Centura struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Doniphan-Trumbull pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Doniphan-Trumbull got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Parker Volk out in front who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Volk has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Poppe, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Centura bumped their record down to 0-12 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Doniphan-Trumbull, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Centura will be playing in front of their home fans against Gibbon at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Doniphan-Trumbull, they will head out on the road to square off against Centennial at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Centennial will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Doniphan-Trumbull is ranked tenth).
