The Cape Henry Collegiate Dolphins will head out on the road to take on the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Saints at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cape Henry Collegiate is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
Cape Henry Collegiate had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Catholic on Tuesday. The Dolphins put the hurt on the Crusaders with a sharp 12-2 win.
Jackson Jones looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Colin Lebel was a standout: he scored two runs while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Martinez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy suffered their closest defeat since March 22nd on Tuesday. They fell just short of Walsingham Academy by a score of 4-2. The Saints haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Nansemond-Suffolk Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Brooks, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Tucker Copeland also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Cape Henry Collegiate's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cape Henry Collegiate has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Nansemond-Suffolk Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Cape Henry Collegiate was able to grind out a solid victory over Nansemond-Suffolk Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 8-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dolphins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
