District 10 Region 5 AAA recap Oct. 23, 2012
Oil City moved up to 283 from 323 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in District 10 Region 5 AAA. The Oilers were able to make move up by besting Karns City 33-21.
DuBois extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Warren, 39-13. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Beavers.
Kyle Ritchey put up the best numbers through the air as Franklin fell to Slippery Rock. He finished with a total of 12 completions for 133 yards and one touchdown. Ritchey's favorite target this week was Brandon Johnson, who caught three passes for 42 yards.
Garrett Brown was the best wideout in the league this week as DuBois bested the Dragons. Brown tallied three receptions for 59 yards. Garrett Miles helped DuBois' passing attack out by catching three balls for 54 yards.
Brown was the most productive running back in District 10 Region 5 AAA this week. He ran for 274 yards on 32 carries as Frank Varischetti's team topped Warren. Teammate Ben Mayro added to the ground attack by rushing for 32 yards.
DuBois' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Beavers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Gabe French has thrown for 1288 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while Bryson Paulinellie has 26 catches for 425 yards. Brown leads the league in rushing with 1211 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Beavers take on Meadville. As it stands, DuBois is in first, while the Bulldogs are in fourth.
The Rockets took down the Knights 55-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
