Tri-Central moved up to 106 from 136 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Hoosier Heartland. The Trojans were able to move up by beating Sheridan 35-7.
Tri-Central extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Blackhawks, 35-7. This was the team's 10th consecutive win.
The Trojans' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Cody Howell threw for 117 and 4 touchdowns and Bryce Dowell had 77 yards receiving. On the ground Garrett Kelley contributed 116 yards. Colten Leininger helped Tri-Central's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 28 yards.
He went 6-16 with 1 interception.
Howell put up the best numbers through the air as Tri-Central beat Sheridan. Howell's favorite target this week was Dowell, who caught 3 passes for 77 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Howell of the Trojans is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,176. He has also thrown 17 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Kreed Switzer. The Carroll star has 24 catches for 495 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Clinton Prairie takes on Tri-Central. The Gophers are in fourth place, while the Trojans are in first place.
Clinton Prairie and Indianapolis Shortridge played the closest game in Hoosier Heartland this week, with Clinton Prairie eventually emerging with a 52-50 victory.
