Lucas came tearing into  Wednesday's  contest with four straight wins  (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the St. Paul Flyers by a score of  9-4. For the Cubs, this counts as revenge for the   5-2 victory the Flyers walked away with the last time they faced one another  back in April of 2022.
 Jack DiBartolomeo and  Brady Anschutz were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing,  DiBartolomeo   struck out 12 batters over  five innings while giving up just one earned  (and three unearned) runs off   one  hit. Meanwhile,  Anschutz   tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   two  hits. Lucas is undefeated when  DiBartolomeo allows two or  fewer  earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise. At bat,  DiBartolomeo  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with two  runs and one  RBI, while  Anschutz  went 2-for-3 with two  RBI and one  run.
 In other batting news,  Bobby Grover was  excellent,  going 3-for-5 with two  runs. Another player making a difference was  Jaden Shaulis, who  went 1-for-3 with two  runs and two  RBI.
Lucas' win was  their third straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 10-5. The  home  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. Paul, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lucas will square off against Wynford at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Cubs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Royals have averaged an impressive 6.4  runs per game this season. As for St. Paul, they will head out to  take on Bellevue  at 4:45  p.m.  on Thursday.
