Baseball Game Preview: Dakota Indians vs. Pearl City Wolves

For the second straight game, Dakota will face off against Pearl City. The Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dakota is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Dakota's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Pearl City as they made off with an 11-0 victory. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Brody Keeney made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Dakota is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Keeney was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Brodie Goode and Braxton Mazurkiewicz did most of the damage at the plate: Goode scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Mazurkiewicz got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Mazurkiewicz has become a key player for Dakota: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brayden Larson, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

Dakota always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Dakota now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Pearl City, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-7.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Dakota has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pearl City struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
