The Anacostia Indians had to endure an eight-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Bard by a score of 52-43 on Monday. That 52-43 margin sets a new team best for Anacostia this season.
Bard's loss came despite strong showings from Torrell Martin and Andre Wright. Martin scored 19 points along with eight rebounds, while Wright scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Martin scored 15 or more points. John Wright was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Anacostia's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-6. As for Bard, they have fallen quite a ways from their 24-7 record last season and are now at 3-12.
Anacostia will head out on the road to face off against Dunbar at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Dunbar's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Anacostia has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. As for Bard, they will square off against Cardozo at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cardozo has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
