The Auburn Tigers won the last time they faced the Opelika Bulldogs, and things went their way on Friday too. Auburn enjoyed a cozy 60-43 win over the Bulldogs. Given Auburn's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 173rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tabari Allen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradley Pearson, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Auburn is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. As for Opelika, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Auburn will take on the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Benjamin Russell will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Opelika, they will head out on the road to face off against the Aggies at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Sylacauga knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully the Bulldogs likes a good challenge.
