Trinity Christian came out on top against Troup County by a score of 67-54 on Friday. Given Trinity Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Troup County is ranked 317th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gabbie Grooms was her usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-9 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 37 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Madison Bennett, who scored 13 points along with seven assists and four steals.
Trinity Christian pushed their record up to 9-5 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Troup County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Trinity Christian will be playing at home against LaGrange at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Troup County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Riverdale at 3:00 p.m. on January 20th. Riverdale is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
