The Apollo Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Butler County Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Apollo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
Last Friday, Apollo was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 41-37 to Ohio County. Apollo has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Apollo's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jenna Dant, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Jennifer Lee who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Lee scored a full 37.8% of Apollo's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jessica Lee, who scored 3 points along with 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Butler County didn't have too much trouble with Larue County on the road on Saturday as they won 49-35.
Todd County Central's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Apollo's loss dropped theirs to 0-1.
Everything came up roses for Apollo against Butler County in their previous meeting back in January of 2019 as the team secured a 68-21 win. Does Apollo have another victory up their sleeve, or will Butler County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
