The Heritage Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 80-58 loss at the hands of Mountain Vista. Heritage has struggled against Mountain Vista recently, as their match on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Heritage's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Atticus Schroeder, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Trystan Rangel, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Cal Baskind was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 41 points and 3 assists for Mountain Vista. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Baskind has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Arocho, who scored ten points along with six assists and two steals.
Heritage's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Mountain Vista, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heritage's road trip will continue as they head out to face Douglas County at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. Douglas County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 15 contests -- so hopefully Heritage likes a good challenge. As for Mountain Vista, they will head out on the road to challenge Ponderosa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Mountain Vista is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ponderosa in Colorado (Mountain Vista is ranked second, while Ponderosa is ranked 35th).
