Softball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Babcock's 11th in Last 13 Outings

After only two runs in their last matchup, Babcock made sure to put some runs up on the board against South Fort Myers on Friday. The Trailblazers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Wolfpack a 17-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Trailblazers, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Lexi Haley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caylee Kessler, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Emmie Barritt was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Babcock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Fort Myers only posted an OBP of .182.

Babcock has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for South Fort Myers, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-12.

Babcock didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 15-0 loss against Southwest Florida Christian on the 21st. As for South Fort Myers, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 23-2 defeat against Bonita Springs on the 14th.
