4A Region 1 recap October 29, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Jackson Haines and Brannon Gamble connected against Amory. The connection was good for 76 yards, the longest such play in 4A Region 1 this season.
The Panthers were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Amory vanquished Tishomingo County 28-16 earlier in the week.
TJ Fields was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 115 yards on 24 carries as Ben Ashley's team fell to Ben Ashley's team. Teammate Fred Garth added to the ground attack by rushing for 51 yards.
Tishomingo County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Braves feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Blake Hawkins has thrown for 1,330 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, while Gamble has 31 catches for 691 yards.
The Panthers are currently in third, while Corinth is in first.
The Warriors extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region 1 this week by beating Shannon, 31-7. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
