Morgantown has gone a perfect 5-0 against Preston recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Mohigans will head out to challenge the Knights at 5:30 p.m. Morgantown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Morgantown got the win against Wheeling Park by a conclusive 8-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mohigans.
MADISON WISMAN was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on KIRA SMITH, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was LIZ ALSOP, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Preston hadn't done well against Liberty recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Knights blew past the Mountaineers 20-1. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like Morgantown, Preston also got a great game from a two-way player: Myla Wotring. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Wotring was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Savannah Goff and Rhylinn Sanders did most of the damage at the plate: Goff went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Sanders went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Allyson Teets was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Preston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive matches.
Morgantown's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Preston, their record is now 3-6.
Everything went Morgantown's way against Preston in their previous meeting back in May of 2021, as Morgantown made off with a 16-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mohigans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
