The Tom Bean Tomcats will face off against the Tioga Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Tom Bean knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Tioga likes a good challenge.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Tom Bean and Whitewright meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Tomcats never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Tomcats, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Keaton Reed made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over six innings pitched. Reed was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Braylin Barrett and Cash Linder did most of the damage at the plate: Barrett scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Linder scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Linder is also on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Reid Sharp was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Tom Bean was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Tioga fell victim to Collinsville and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 9-0 to the Pirates. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.
Tioga saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gage Anderson, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Tom Bean's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Tioga, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9-1.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Tom Bean has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .488. However, it's not like Tioga struggles in that department as they've averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Tom Bean took their victory against Tioga in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 17-5 score. Do the Tomcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
