After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Walker in the first quarter, the Tigers led 20-6 at the half.
Both teams scored seven points in the third quarter, so the margin remained at 14 entering the fourth.
The loss snapped the Yellowjackets' 4-game winning streak.
St. Xavier's standout player in the win was Ackerman. The sophomore wide receiver kicked two field goals and three extra points.
A 31-30 St. Xavier victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
St. Xavier (4-1) goes up against Trinity in a 6A District 4 game matchup next week, while Central (4-1) locks horns with Elizabethtown in a 3A District 3 game.
