The Northern Durham Knights''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Jordan, falling 49-3. While losing is never fun, Northern Durham can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while Jordan is ranked 41st).
Amareon Blue was his usual excellent self, rushing for 207 yards while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Julian Littleton, who threw for 97 yards and two touchdowns.
Northern Durham's defeat was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Vance County and 9-4 Southern Alamance (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65.5% over those games). As for Jordan, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Northern Durham will be playing in front of their home fans against Riverside-Durham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jordan, they will head out on the road to face off against Hillside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hillside is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
