In what's become a running theme this season, the Landrum Cardinals gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 77-46 win over Blacksburg at home. The win was familiar territory for Landrum who now have four in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Landrum to victory, but perhaps none more so than Savannah Brown, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 22 rebounds. Brown is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Cortez, who scored 27 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Blacksburg's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was K K Dawkins, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Tessner, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Landrum's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.2 points per game. As for Blacksburg, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-10.
Landrum will head out on the road to challenge Greenville Tech Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Landrum knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Greenville Tech Charter likes a good challenge. As for Blacksburg, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Greer Middle College at 6:00 p.m. Greer Middle College comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
