Pomperaug is 1-9 against Masuk since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Pomperaug will be playing at home against Masuk at 4:15 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Pomperaug nor Weston made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Panthers came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 7-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.
Alex Augustine made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Augustine was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Noah Pane was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Pane is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Dominic Creaco, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Masuk faced off against Kolbe-Cathedral on Wednesday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Cougars. Considering the Panthers have won three matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Jackson Zylick, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Masuk is undefeated when Zylick posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Nate Ohara was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
The victory got Pomperaug back to even at 4-4. As for Masuk, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Pomperaug came out on top in a nail-biter against Masuk in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 1-0. Will Pomperaug repeat their success, or does Masuk has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
