The Crescent Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Daniel Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Crescent never let their opponents score. They claimed a resounding 42-0 victory over West-Oak at home. The victory was just what Crescent needed coming off of a 41-14 loss in their prior contest.
Kiantae Parks was on fire: he rushed for 140 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Daniel put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 56-28 victory over Pendleton. Daniel pushed the score to 42-21 by the end of the third, a deficit Pendleton had little chance of recovering from.
Daniel relied on the efforts of Kolton Chapman, who threw for 279 yards and a touchdown, and Kari Bennett, who gained 228 total yards and four touchdowns. Bennett hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games. Daniel also got help from Christian Chancellor jr who showed off his sure hands for 86 receiving yards.
Another reason for the win was Daniel's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Dexter Johnson and Jaedyn Young who racked up 4.5 sacks between them.
Their wins bumped Crescent to 6-3 and Daniel to 9-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Crescent has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 208 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Daniel struggles in that department as they've been even better at 241.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Crescent was dealt a bruising 42-0 defeat at the hands of Daniel in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Crescent avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
