Central Sequoia recap October 22, 2013
Central Valley Christian scaled the state rankings by moving to 324 from 374 this week, the biggest jump in Central Sequoia. The Cavaliers were able to move up by topping Exeter 52-31.
Selma took down Immanuel 27-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. John Moreno threw for 139 yards and 1 touchdown during the win.
Tony Dragt threw for 225 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was 11-20 with 0 interceptions.
Justin Dykstra made the biggest impact on defense this week as Central Valley Christian beat the Monarchs. The 6-foot-5 senior nabbed 1 interception.
Dragt and Macintyre Garbani gave Mason Hughes' team a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Dragt also contributed to the rushing game with 112 yards on the ground.
Thanks to the talents of Marcus McMaryion and Michael Wright, Dinuba has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. McMaryion is tops in the league in passing with 1,669 yards, while Wright has rushed for 1,289 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Kingsburg's Austen Hammerstrom, with 378 yards on 21 catches.
The Cavaliers' Garbani is a mere 53 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Garbani has rushed for 947 yards on 127 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Kingsburg takes on Central Valley Christian. Dave Steele's team is in first place, while the Cavaliers are in third place.
Central Valley Christian made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,228 from 5,033. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 52-31 victory over Exeter last week.
