The Cherokee Trail Cougars's five-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They blew past Rampart 77-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Braylen Thomas, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Naode Ghide, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Rampart lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Isaiah Melecio, who scored 17 points. The matchup was Melecio's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Chavarria, who scored nine points.
Cherokee Trail's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Rampart, they bumped their record down to 5-4 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Cherokee Trail will face off against Central at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rampart won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Arapahoe at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th.
