The Covington Trojans lost against the Clinton Prairie Gophers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Covington took a 46-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clinton Prairie. While losing is never fun, Covington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while Clinton Prairie is ranked 102nd).
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Coye Ferguson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Landon Herzog was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds.
Covington now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Clinton Prairie, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.
Covington will be playing at home against South Vermillion at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Clinton Prairie's road trip will continue as they head out to face Tri-Central at 7:30 p.m. on February 16th. The timing isn't great for Tri-Central: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Clinton Prairie has snatched up 12 consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
