The Winside Wildcats fell victim to the Johnson-Brock Eagles''s stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Eagles on the road and fell 58-0. While losing is never fun, Winside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Johnson-Brock is ranked first).
Jayden Aschoff threw for 110 yards on 11 of 21 attempts. Korbin Carlson was his top target, picking up 43 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
Johnson-Brock's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hayden Gravatt, who rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Gravatt was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards. Sloan Pelican was another key contributor, throwing for 160 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 passes.
Winside's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Johnson-Brock, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Winside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Johnson-Brock will look to defend their home field on Friday against Anselmo-Merna at 3:00 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Quinten Myers and Pelican.
